“THIS IS THE LONGEST SUMMER JOB THAT I HAVE EVER HAD!”
I graduated from Chesapeake High School in 1981 and was still unsure of what direction I wanted to take. I decided to try my hand at landscaping for the summer and answered an ad for “Landscape Laborer needed.” I got the job and became part of a four man operation. I immediately found that I enjoyed the work and the impact of turning a normally disastrous job site into a well-groomed landscape install, one deserving of a magazine cover.
As the economy changed and the industry grew, so did Childs Landscape. The growth was in staff, sales locations, and most importantly, our customer and client base. We found that the actual scope for any successful landscape contractor would always be a ‘moving target’. Years ago, we made a conscious decision to always be on the cutting edge and to be ready to re-invent our company, while never letting go of what made us successful. We diversified after deciding what markets we could serve with the highest level of quality and knowledge, always teaming with great growers and suppliers. We felt that if we were going to do it, let’s do it right!
Today, we are strictly a commercial-based landscape contracting company. We provide cutting-edge products with personal ‘hands-on’ service, while working for some of our country’s largest contractors and owners. At the same time, we always make ourselves available to our entire client base for whatever their needs might be. Remember… always changing.
We are proud of the fact that we have staff members and customers that have been working together for over 25 years. This makes Childs Landscape different than most. In my opinion, employee retention is a sign of doing the right thing. Good economy or bad, it’s a pleasure to say that those who work here at Childs Landscape, and those clients for whom we work, have become great friends and have formed incredibly long lasting relationships that act as a bond!
Childs Landscape is dedicated to honesty, quality, and safety!
Thank you,
