Harry Redmon – President & CEO
Just out of high school in 1981, Harry took a summer job as a laborer with Childs Landscape. The Company consisted of little more than 4 employees and a few run down pieces of equipment. At that time, Harry had no idea that what was to be a summer job would turn into a lifetime career. Forty years later, Harry’s hard work and dedication to Childs Landscape has resulted in huge changes. Harry has gone from laborer to the President, CEO, and majority stockholder of one of Maryland’s most well-known and respected Landscape Contractors. Harry has always felt that hard work and team work were the keys to success. (Landscape and hard work just go together!)
He is very proud of our incredible client list, our jobs completed to date, and most of all- the team that he has built around him. A hands-on approach is highly evident in the daily support that his team members receive and the resulting appreciation and satisfaction from our clients. Harry’s steadfast dedication to quality goods and services has proven to be the key to Childs Landscape’s success and to our many continuing long-term client relationships.
Childs Landscape has seen many changes over the years, driven by changes in the industry and changes in the economy. Change is what it takes to improve!
Harry holds a Maryland Home Improvement License, a Virginia Class ‘A’ Contractors License, a 30 hour OSHA Certificate, a DOT Supervisor Trainer Certificate, and a Class ‘B’ CDL License, with the airbrake and tanker endorsements. He has served as Vice President of the Maryland Seeding Association and participated in writing Maryland state seeding specifications that are still in use today. Harry served for two years as an elected member to the Board of Directors for the Central Maryland YMCA , served two years on the board of the Salvation Army, and has also participated in many other community programs. Harry enjoys hunting, fishing, and travel.
Cole Redmon – Vice President & CFO
Cole started working full-time for Childs landscape in May of 2019 as an Accounting Assistant. Prior to this, he spent many summers with Childs working in the field, developing a strong work ethic and an appreciation for his work. He graduated from Salisbury University with a bachelor’s degree in Financial Investment, while also minoring in Information Systems. As of January 2023, Cole has progressed into the position of Chief Financial Officer & Partner, having working under the former CFO for upwards of 3 years. Cole enjoys exercising, traveling & spending time with friends.
Christopher Redmon – Vice President/Partner
With Childs Landscape always being a main staple in Chris’s personal and family life, he spent much of his pre-teen youth at Childs Landscape watering flowers, cleaning trucks and helping out in the nursery. He continued working as a laborer through his highschool career and was ultimately promoted to a commercial estimator shortly after graduating, where he served for 6 years honing his comprehension and abilities within the industry. Following a subsequent 3 year tenure as a Project Manager for an environmental restoration/construction company managing projects as large as 5+ million, Chris returned to Childs with the role of Vice President of Contracts, eventually becoming a Partner in January of 2023. He is responsible for managing all large active projects and to help manage and oversee all divisions of the company. Chris is an avid musician and spends most of his spare time recording in his home studio.
Heidi Fischer – Office/PR/Benefits Admin
Heidi started working with Childs Landscape in January of 1987 as a receptionist, payroll processor, and to assist the managers and sales staff administratively. The company was much smaller but coming up fast. There were many new experiences throughout the industry that she was introduced to but none quite as interesting to her as growing up with the company. Through the years she has seen a lot of changes, worked with a diverse group of people and been a part of a company whose name is now very familiar in the Mid-Atlantic area. Heidi is proud of her time with Childs Landscape and proud to remain a long-time member of the Childs Landscape team. Although the players have changed over the years, the team is as strong as ever!
Chano Flores – General Manager
Chano came to Childs in 1998 as a laborer and has moved all the way up the ladder. He is responsible for managing over 6 Million Dollars in production and as many as 50 employees. He also greatly assists the estimating team in providing true quality pricing and servicing our clients.
Logan Hundemann – Maintenance Manager & Sales
Logan joined the Childs Landscape team in the spring of 2021. He brings over 10 years of knowledge and experience in the landscaping industry. He previously owned a landscaping maintenance business, maintaining residential homes in Anne Arundel County. He is excited to bring his passion for landscaping to help grow the Childs Landscape maintenance division. In his spare time Logan enjoys boating on the Chesapeake bay and spending time with his wife, children and dog.
John Sarabia – Homebuilder Construction Manager
John joined the Childs team in the Fall of 2021 eager to learn more about the industry and has certainly succeeded in doing so. John started as the Yard Manager inspecting deliveries, expanding his knowledge on plant species, and learning how to operate specialty equipment. John has become an extremely valuable member to have on the team as he currently oversees the Homebuilder division, and is responsible for maintaining client relations & managing dozens of employees on a daily basis. In his spare time, John loves to spend time with friends and family.
Mark Mellinger – Vice President, Sales/Design/Estimating
Mark has always loved to work outside and his passion for Horticulture started when he was a child. He worked outside with his father in the yard for many years. He then started mowing lawns in the neighborhood, blowing snow, and any other work he could find. He continued his plan of working with plants in college with continued studies in Horticulture. During college and after, Mark was a foreman for a large landscape company, running crews and constructing a garden center. He then worked for a variety of large corporations in charge of their gardening departments. During these positions he was asked about designing landscapes for customers. After taking landscape design courses he started a small landscape design company while working at home. Once his children were at school full time Mark came to Childs Landscape to move into the commercial aspects of estimating and design. He is currently designing and estimating for large commercial and Homebuilders of Childs Landscape.
Keith Watts – Commercial Estimator
Keith has over 25 years of experience in the Landscaping Industry. He brings an artistic vision as well as high standards for promoting tree, shrub and turf health with respect to the local environment. Keith is licensed in the State of Maryland as a Tree Expert. He holds State certifications for tree, shrub and turf care. He also has experience in hardscape design including construction of retaining walls and installation of unit pavers. His Green Building experience consists of installation of porous pavers and Green Roofs. Keith’s knowledge and design of Irrigation systems has been useful in promoting landscape sustainability. Keith and his wife reside in Ellicott City and are proud parents of two teenagers. Most weekends, he can be found driving his kids to their various travel baseball and softball games.
David Putnam – Commercial Estimator
David joined the Childs team after working his way up in the irrigation industry from laborer to starting his own company; he has over 10 years of experience in the industry. He holds an Irrigation Technician Certificate from Hunter Industries and studied engineering as well as working in construction for many years. In his spare time you can find him doing home improvement projects and having fun with his family.
Tabitha Turner – Accounting Manager
Tabitha has worked in the construction industry for over 20 years. She originally started working for Childs Landscape back in 2001, before leaving in 2004 upon the birth of her first child. Upon returning to the work force, she continued working within the construction industry and had a special opportunity to return to Childs in 2012 as a bookkeeper. She is responsible for the day-to-day accounting within the company and assisting the CFO. Tabitha resides on the eastern shore with her husband and children.
Becky Mellinger – Miss Utility/Sales Administrator
Becky originally came to Childs in 2012 just to help make a few phone calls; but has been a full-time employee since she stepped in the door! She supports the Sales team through the bidding and contracting process, as well as project research and sales numbers. Becky also handles all aspects of the Miss Utility process and has helped Childs Landscape increase awareness and safety in the field, resulting in honorable mentions in 2014 and 2017, as well as the Washington DC Dig Smart award (highest honor) in 2018. Becky attends and participates in the monthly MD/DC Damage Prevention meetings, as well as the annual Greater Chesapeake Damage Prevention conference. Becky is an avid home gardener and an advocate and supporter of animal rescue organizations.
Jamie Rotosky – Purchasing Manager
Jamie came to Childs Landscape with over 12 years buying experience and over 5 years of outside sales in various industries. She is excited to be apart of the Child’s family and eager to learn everything about the landscaping world. In her spare time she enjoys shooting pool- both 8 ball and 9-ball, camping, watching sports, good music, and the company of her friends and family. Jamie is huge fan of the Capitals, Ravens, and Nascar races.
Yareth Bravo – Estimator
Yareth started as an intern performing take-offs for the estimating team and quickly developed an appreciation for the Landscape world. Her college background in Business helped her to transition quickly into a Full-Time Estimator. With the support of her co-Estimators, she has developed a strong foundation and an ever-growing knowledge In the landscape field. Yareth has become the go-to-girl and estimating specialist for stand alone small retail structures. In her spare time, she enjoys taking long drives in the country, kayaking, fishing and most importantly spending time with her family.
Chris Gardner – Head Mechanic
Chris is the newest member of our team, joining Childs Landscape in the summer of 2020. He joins the team with a degree from Lincoln Tech, along with 10+ years of working within the industry. Chris is responsible for keeping all of the equipment at Childs operating at peak performance while also bringing a new and updated feel to the shop. He is excited to take on this new role and help find innovative ways to grow the business. In his spare time he enjoys hunting, watching sports (particularly the Capitals and the Dolphins), and spending time with friends and family.
